DIABETES, FLOODS & CAR ACCIDENTS

Catchy Title??? This has been my week which is why there haven't been any cards to post - or time to post for that matter!

The week started with a trip to the ER with my hubby where we found out that he is diabetic! Hello??? He is overweight but this came completely out of left field as his sugar level has always been normal. Not this time however. Instead of the normal 80-120 that it should be - he was at 853!!! Doc said he could have died. They gave him insulin and sent him home later with medication. Wednesday night was a repeat ER visit - only the sugar level was half of the original reading. More insulin, they fed him this time and sent him home with a reading of 469. The numbers are gradually coming down - 306 this a.m. which has been the lowest. It has been a little scary - it has forced some lifestyle changes for both of us - but we are grateful that God was watching over him as always and allowed us more time together.

I planned to use this weekend to clean house and get in some play time on Saturday afternoon - however you know what they say about the best laid plans. The phone rang at 8 a.m. on Saturday. It was my niece telling us that her brother had been in a car accident earlier in the morning and was in the hospital awaiting surgery. So off we went to the hospital where we find him in this condition:

Cut above his left eye, broken left elbow, broken left femur (thighbone), broken left patella (knee), broken left tibia (shin) and badly sprained left ankle. This is the result of working late, then visiting a friend, FALLING ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL and WRAPPING ONESELF AROUND A TREE! Again we give thanks that the Lord spared his life and allowed us to have him with us without any major permanent damage.

The week ended with flood waters in our basement and an SOS from a friend due to flood waters in her basement. We decided hers took priority as they had noway to get their belongings up out of the water so darling hubby went to help suck up the 4-6" of water that was standing there.

So, after an entire week of not getting to release the creative juices, I came home around 11:00 p.m. last night and created this card. It was overdue - I was having stamping withdrawal. I could take no more! I HAD TO PLAY! :)

Hope your week has been less eventful than mine - unless all of the events were happy ones.
